It is a shame that some gender variant persons are intolerant of others.
I would like to quote from Harry Benjamin. He writes with regret of intolerance: “Too many individuals are that way; what they do not like must be forbidden and punished. Then they are satisfied. I have even met transvestites who dislike (or pretend to dislike) transsexualism so much that they are against estrogen treatment and operation (for reasons of self protection?). There are also transsexuals who dislike transvestites as well as homosexuals. Intolerance can be found in strange quarters.” The Transsexual Phenomenon, p114-5 of the Warner Books 1977 edition.
In particular, those who organize in his name, should respect his sentiment.

I feel compelled to respond to this. Disagreeing on politics and principles is NOT the same as disliking entire classes of individuals.
ReplyDeleteIn all trans related groups there is a decided tendency to view any variation from the group's "revealed wisdom" as an act of hatred, hate speech or bigotry. I stand as an excellent example of the results of that. Although a former activist who co-founded several trans civil rights groups, established a housing project for early transitioned transsexual women, along with Ethan St. Pierre organized the only known LGBt specific Katrina relief effort and who handled and disburshed those funds and the researcher who laid the groundwork for understanding the enormous involvement of transsexual priestesses in the ancient Goddess traditions...for all that my name is a prejorative among non classic transsexual transgenders. Why? simply because I believe science has proven me correct in that classic transsexuality is a neurological form of intersexuality. That's it in a nutshell.
Trannys who live in glass houses would do well to avoid the casting of stones themselves.
