Diane Arbus is famous for her photographs of transvestites, although she didn't really take that many such photographs. Her transvestites are rarely given names, and only a few of them look as if they could pass on the street or go shopping without drawing attention.

Sounds like her name was Bruce Wright. There's a Literary Hub article titled "The Untold Story of a Legendary Diane Arbus Photograph" written about her brother discovering the photo. Seems Bruce was leading one of those self-medicated marginal lives on the edges of the polite world — dead at 1982 at the age of 41 from cirrhosis.
