She presented as an overweight woman with long, stringy blond hair; used the name Angela, had breasts and wore clothes that I would define as on the more feminine side, but never a dress and even scoffed at the idea. Her voice was male, but not masculine. She didn't take female hormones and had to shave every day. When I first met her, I assumed she was perhaps a real masculine lesbian. In a way I was right. She would make cat-calls to attractive women from her car. It wasn't until a female tenant of mine made the comment, "You know that new tenant Angela? She's a man. I know what a man smells like." When we were standing in line at a grocery store once, we overheard a woman make the comment, "I think she used to be a man", which set Angela into a panic. In a moment of candor, Angela described herself to me as a mutilated male. The photos were taken about 2 months apart. The pre shots where of Angela showing a penis, the post shots were with a newly operated vulva. Things were still quite raw. The whole spread was shocking, never saw anything like it. She looked drugged and hard, not like a woman but like a man with a sex changed crotch.Bonobo3Dhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05937870574691578171noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6712640935255311366.post-24883081244882077522010-04-01T14:30:56.359-04:002010-04-01T14:30:56.359-04:00My name is Nicole Spray I had my surgery done by D...My name is Nicole Spray I had my surgery done by Dr. John R. She had just won a quarter of a million dollars in a lottery. Prior to this she had been living off of charity in north Florida. Initially I didn't know she was transgendered until another tenant pointed it out saying, "You know that Angela is a man, she smells like one". This hardly concerned me and even after Angela moved out (she didn't like the neighbors I guess) we became friends. I escorted her on cruises where she loved to gamble. She was more comfortable under the cover of darkness so most of our activities were at night. I remember she still had to shave, would not be caught dead in a dress, and made cat-calls to pretty latina women on the streets of Miami from the corvette that we cruised in (bought with her lottery winnings) Ultimately her paranoia and delusional thinking drove me away and for a time she sent me harrasing letters demanding money. I understand she became poor again, unsurprisingly. And now I just read here that she passed away in 07. The link to her obit no longer works. Does anyone know the circumstances of her death? She was indeed one of the most tortured souls I've ever known.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6712640935255311366.post-4304025664800328252008-09-02T14:12:00.000-04:002008-09-02T14:12:00.000-04:00My pen name is "Kay Brown", I authored the transhi...My pen name is "Kay Brown", I authored the transhistory.net site. I personally met Angela Keys Douglas in 1977. She was still pre-op at the time. I spent the night at her apartment in Berkeley, the night she wrote that infamous Sister Letter. I was literally standing over her shoulder as she wrote it. She asked me to proof it and aske me what I thought of it. I told her, "It is too filled with anger to be useful." She ignored me and sent it anyways. The next day was the SF Pride Parade. She and I participated in it together.

Even at the time, in '77, I could detect that she was mentally ill, a condition that worsened over the years, giving rise to dillusions such as being an FBI and CIA informant, etc. Over the years, she wrote bizaar and sometimes threatening letters to me and others. Sorting fact from fiction of her life is very difficult, as she was not the best source of biographical data. I am deeply saddened that she suffered so.

-- Kay BrownAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
